The Berthoud Bugle: How do you find God?

Updated: 6 days ago

Volume 2026: Edition 46

Food for thought:

So many different tools, what's your excuse?

   Hello everyone. We thank you for your love and support for our Church and our family. Please continue to pray for our church, our pastor and his leadership, and our church leaders that we may continue to share the word of God. We are so blessed and grateful for the growth in our church, the ability to share our messages and newsletters with our viewers, and the strengthening of our church family and viewers as a congregation and as individuals. We strive to bring encouragement and connection through this newsletter, which we will continue to post every 1st of the month. So, we hope you will continue to learn and grow in God's word with us.

Happy March

Hopefully, this newsletter finds you, your family, and friends well, as we get one month closer to spring 🙂 and one more month closer to Easter Sunday. That’s right, Easter Sunday is just around the corner, Sunday, April 5th. To get a quick jump on it, start thinking if you would want to be one of the brave to speak about one of the 7 statements which we know as “The seven words” on Easter Sunday morning 🙂as we all gather to celebrate our Lord’s Resurrection.

We will, of course, have more details to come on Easter Sunday service and annual Easter Sunday breakfast through our Wix website, Facebook page, email, and announcements at church.

As for this month's newsletter, it is a little different from what our normal newsletter is.

This month is a reminder to use all resources available to you.

What do I mean?

We have so many resources at our disposal. We have a Sunday morning class, a Sunday morning service, we have Thursday night bible studies, we have a newsletter that you are reading at this moment, we have a Facebook page, a YouTube channel, and a website (Wix page). We have iPhones, Android phones, internet access, podcasts, social media platforms, and commentaries.

We have resources through fellowshipping with one another, and the most important resource,

our Bible.

I know for me personally, bible study on Thursday nights and listening to a variety of podcasts have helped me dearly, but especially Thursday nights at bible study. It shows the importance of fellowship, sharing God’s word with one another, and having great dialogue with one another. The discussion we have as a group helps me tremendously because you get to hear testimonies from other believers who go through the same struggles of life and their views on the nightly topic. I look forward to bible study and to the interaction, and to the break from the world that makes me think I don’t have time to spend an hour of my time studying God’s word.

When I stop and think about all the resources I have at my disposal to help me in my daily life, I feel disappointed knowing that I make excuse after excuse why I do not act on them. And yes, like a verse from one of my new favorite songs:

“We’re too busy and can’t find the time. Are we busy, or is it all a lie?

We got dust on our Bibles, brand-new iPhones.

No wonder why we feel this way.”

-Dusty Bibles by Josiah Queen

With so many reminders out there,

another reminder to me is a quote from one of my favorite movies:

“I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying.”

Spoken by Andy Dufresne’s character, played by Tim Robbins, in The Shawshank Redemption To his friend Red in the film, played by Morgan Freeman. A moment they shared in the movie about his (Andy’s) despair and life in prison. And the possibilities of hope.

I know for me, the more I pull from all of my resources and experiences, the less I feel overwhelmed and feel I can put up a daily fight. Along with fellowship with other believers and yes, reading my bible, I feel more confident and alive… but the moment I take a break from feeding my soul with Good resources, I fall quickly back into bad habits and routines.

Don’t squander all the resources you have at your disposal, with the breath of life we are all blessed with; put up a fight.

Because at the end of the day, it is up to each one of us to fight for our own souls.

I will end this newsletter's monthly topic with one my favorite passages.  A reminder of how one of the greatest kings of all time wrote about our

Creator, our Savior, and His Holy Spirit's knowledge of us:

God’s Perfect Knowledge of Man

For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

O LORD, You have searched me and known me.

 You know my sitting down and my rising up;

You understand my thought afar off.

You comprehend my path and my lying down,

And are acquainted with all my ways.

 For there is not a word on my tongue,

But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.

 You have hedged me behind and before,

And laid Your hand upon me.

       Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

It is high, I cannot attain it.

Where can I go from Your Spirit?

Or where can I flee from Your presence?

  If I ascend into heaven, You are there;

If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.

 If I take the wings of the morning,

And dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

 Even there Your hand shall lead me,

And Your right hand shall hold me.

 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall fall on me,”

Even the night shall be light about me;

 Indeed, the darkness shall not hide from You,

But the night shines as the day;

The darkness and the light are both alike to You.

 For You formed my inward parts;

You covered me in my mother’s womb.

 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works,

And that my soul knows very well.

 My frame was not hidden from You,

When I was made in secret,

And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,

When as yet there were none of them.

 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!

How great is the sum of them!

 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand.

When I awake, I am still with You.

 Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God!

Depart from me, therefore, you bloodthirsty men.

 For they speak against You wickedly;

Your enemies take Your name in vain.

Do I not hate them, O LORD, who hate You?

And do I not loathe those who rise up against You?

 I hate them with perfect hatred;

I count them my enemies.

 Search me, O God, and know my heart;

Try me, and know my anxieties;

 And see if there is any wicked way in me,

And lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:1-24 NKJV -

Weekly Devotional: The Invitation of All Invitations

Begg, Alistair. Truth for Life- Daily Devotions

Verse(s) of the Month:

" Because of Christ and our faith in him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.

So please don’t lose heart because of my trials here.

I am suffering for you, so you should feel honored.

When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,

the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit.

Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him.

Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should,

how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."

(Ephesians 3:12-19)

Announcements:

Sun's out, burritos out! We will be having Burrito Sales every other week, weather permitting. If you would like to participate in sales, please make 2 dozen burritos per family or baked goods to sell. Any help or support is also greatly appreciated.

There is also a tentative plan for the church to hold a pie bake sale on March 14th. If you would like to support this sale, please bake 2 or more pies or 2 dozen baked goods to sell.

On a separate note, Easter is on its way! If you would like to participate in the Presentation of the Seven Words or help to make our Easter Breakfast, please sign up on the church board and or speak to Pastor Stevie about participating.
